Easy Chunky Tomato Pizza Sauce

1 can diced organic tomatoes

1/4 c. Dry red wine

4 Cloves (siciliano) garlic minced

1 Tbs. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1/2 tsp. Oregano (dried is fine)

! Tbs. natural sugar

Salt to taste

2 Tbs. Fresh Basil - chopped (or 1 tbs. dried)

 

To a medium sized sauce pan, on medium heat, add the minced garlic to the olive oil and heat (do not burn garlic).

Add the remaining ingredients, except basil, turn heat down to med-low and simmer until the liquid has evaporated and you have a thick chunky sauce.

Add the Basil at the end. Do not cook it in the sauce.

 

If you like that wonderful Italian Basil and Tomato Pizza Flavor. Fresh Basil should not be cooked in the sauce.

A little dried basil can be added to the sauce while cooking.

Save the fresh basil to sprinkle on top of the pizza, along with some freshly grated Parmesan cheese. once the pizza has been removed from the oven.
